Jay Shetty’s Netflix studio wows Oprah, Lucy Hale
Discover how Netflix studio design transforms Jay Shetty’s home space into a hotel‑like podcast set, drawing Oprah and Lucy Hale with its stylish comfort and fu

Jay Shetty’s Netflix podcast studio, the new home for the “On Purpose” series, has drawn attention for its design as much as for its guest lineup. The space, built in the author‑coach’s residence, blends a hotel‑like ambience with a functional set, aiming to make conversations feel natural.
Design concept rooted in everyday comfort
Los Angeles designer Mike Moser was tasked with turning a raw, 800‑square‑foot room into a place where high‑profile guests could relax. “The first brief from Jay was like, ‘I’m in this space all the time,’” Moser recalled.
Shetty wanted a setting that would not feel like a conventional studio but rather an extension of his home, drawing inspiration from boutique hotels, libraries, and other areas where people naturally slow down. Construction began in late April and wrapped up three weeks later, with the team working “around the clock.” The finished room features two vintage Danish armchairs upholstered in mohair velvet, a round glass table with jagged legs, and a deep‑wine Nordic Knots rug that contrasts with a blue‑tinted ceiling. Artwork lines the walls, adding a provocative voice to the otherwise subdued palette.
Balancing aesthetics and on‑camera needs
While Moser’s background is primarily residential, the project required each design choice to serve three purposes: satisfy Shetty’s personal taste, provide a welcoming backdrop for guests, and look good on camera. “It just looks incredibly good on Jay,” Moser said, noting that the studio needed to be “swaggy as hell.” The result is a space that feels both lavish and hushed, aiming to set a tone before any question is asked.

Shetty has emphasized that the environment can shape the dialogue. “One of the most meaningful moments was welcoming guests into the space for the first time,” he said. “It reinforced something we’ve always believed: The environment matters.” By creating a warm, intimate setting, the studio seeks to encourage guests to share parts of themselves that they might otherwise keep hidden.
In practice, the design’s impact may be subtle but significant for the people who sit there. A comfortable chair and a soothing color scheme can reduce anxiety, allowing personalities ranging from athletes to actors to focus on the conversation rather than the surroundings. That ease could translate into more candid moments that resonate with viewers.
Since its launch in 2019, “On Purpose” has hosted a wide array of notable figures, including former First Lady Michelle Obama, driver Lewis Hamilton, and singer Selena Gomez. The Netflix season, which debuted in July, added guests such as Karl‑Anthony Towns, Lucy Hale, and Camila Mendes. The show’s focus on wellness, personal growth, and contemporary culture has made it one of the most popular mental‑health podcasts worldwide.
The studio blends home comfort with production quality.
