LA Design Community Gathers at Thús Huma
LA design community gathers at Thús Huma for a celebration of connection, creativity and exceptional craft, showcasing design excellence.

On a warm summer evening in late June, AD PRO Directory members gathered for the community’s LA summer social at Thús Huma, a residential gallery in West Hollywood. The event was a celebration of connection, creativity, and exceptional craft, presented in collaboration with contractor SilverLining Inc.
AD West Coast Editor Mayer Rus noted that the gallery, located inside a contemporary house on a quiet residential block just off of Melrose Avenue, “radiates idiosyncratic connoisseurship” in a design world often dominated by “tepid good taste”.
The Gallery and Its Designers
The gallery’s living spaces filled with AD PRO Directory members, including interior designers, architects, setting designers, and builders, who came to exchange ideas and expand their networks. Attendees included Andre Herrero of Charlap Hyman Herrero, Hema Persad of Sagrada Studio, Jazmyne Crunk of Zeb and Crunk, James Corr of Corr Contemporary Homes, and Lucinda Loya of Lucinda Loya Interiors.
As they mingled, Directory members explored the gallery’s furniture, textiles, and lighting, many of which were conceived as an homage to South Asian craftsmanship reimagined through a Western lens. Rus described the space as “chockablock with treasures” that feel both timeless and of the moment.

A Showcase of Craftsmanship
The gallery features a range of unique pieces, including a custom shitol pati embedded into the surface of the foyer’s pedestal table and a pair of sculptural walnut and cane Giza chairs. The craftsmanship continues upstairs, where jamdani fabrics and wallpapers in the primary bedroom celebrate the ancient Bengal art of weaving fine diaphanous textiles.
Later in the evening, Rus invited members to the gallery’s backyard for a poolside conversation with Huma Sulaiman, Josh Weiner, and a few of the featured artists. The speakers discussed the power of collaboration and supporting traditional craft techniques, with Sulaiman sharing that Rus had been a strong supporter of Thús Huma from the beginning.
A Community of Designers
The AD PRO Directory offers unparalleled access and community for AD-approved firms shaping the future of the industry. The Directory’s events provide opportunities for members to connect and learn from one another.
For Sulaiman, it was a “full-circle moment” to share the gallery with AD PRO Directory members and celebrate the power of collaboration and craftsmanship.
