Irkutsk Villa Merges Garden and Home in Serene Design
The Irkutsk villa seamlessly merges garden and home in serene design, blending luxury with natural materials and spatial flow for a harmonious livi

In 2025, architect Anna Moroz and Dmitry Galin of Rezeda Architecture Bureau completed a 622-square-meter urban villa in Irkutsk, Russia, called The Silence of Perfection: A Territory of Harmony. Designed hand-in-hand with its garden, the project reimagines contemporary luxury through light, environment, and a deliberate focus on stillness. The design unites the house and garden into a single composition, stressing spatial flow, natural materials, and a calm atmosphere throughout.
Architecture Around Sightlines
Its layout follows a central axis that creates long, uninterrupted visual pathways across the interior. Two distinct zones define the plan: private quarters for bedrooms, a hall, and bathroom, and communal areas that house living, dining, kitchen, and study spaces. The entrance hall and bedroom use darker tones to add depth, while glazed doors and windows at either end stretch the view beyond the building envelope.
Sliding doors enable seamless transitions between rooms, encouraging a fluid interior experience that lets light move freely and occupants glide from one area to another without obstruction.
Open-Plan Kitchen and Living
The kitchen and dining area merge into a single, generous space. Cabinetry and appliances are hidden behind coplanar doors, preserving visual simplicity and allowing the eye to travel across clean surfaces. A neutral palette of pale walls, natural parquet flooring, and abundant daylight creates a serene backdrop; strategic lighting highlights artworks and architectural details without overwhelming the senses.
In the living room, pale tones and sleek furniture frame views of an inner courtyard. A movable ottoman bridges two seating zones, offering flexibility for gatherings or quiet moments alike.
Materials and Light
Light and natural materials anchor the interior design. The living room’s fireplace features a marble surround inspired by Lake Baikal’s frozen surface, while a skylight channels daylight throughout the day, softening shadows and enhancing texture.
Garden as Contemplative Space
The adjoining Screen Garden unfolds in layers, moving from an enclosed entrance toward an open environment. Willows, birches, and conifers create a natural perimeter that balances privacy with openness. Stone paths link garden sections, while clipped hedges and planted beds frame evolving views.
Experience of Stillness
For Rezeda Architecture Bureau, the residence represents a contemporary luxury defined by experience rather than opulence. Morning light filters through skylights, art collections are highlighted by intentional lighting, and the fluid interior layout encourages movement and quiet observation. The design prioritizes waking to silence, gazing at greenery, and the freedom to inhabit spaces shaped by light and stillness.
