The Hilti VC 4LX-22 cordless dust extractor tackles wet and dry messes on construction sites, addressing silica dust exposure as a major health risk. The model, formerly called the VC 140-2-22, enhances jobsite safety while simplifying cleanup.

This extractor produces up to 142 CFM of airflow and 2.47 PSI of suction—equal to 68.4 inches of water lift. A universal filter handles both wet and dry debris, while a fleece dust bag captures dry particles. For finer particulates like concrete or silica dust, a HEPA filter is available. The unit complies with OSHA Table 1 standards due to its automatic filter-cleaning system.

The hard plastic canister holds 15 pounds of dust and one gallon of water, making it practical for smaller spills. Hilti did not provide official runtime figures, but the vacuum is designed for battery-powered use.

The VC 4LX-22 performs well for cutting, grinding, dry-coring, and clearing wood chips. Its high airflow handles lightweight debris efficiently, while its suction power suits typical dust collection tasks. The compact design includes a folding top handle for easy carrying. Hilti also sells optional accessories, such as a rolling dolly and backpack adapter, for larger cleanup areas.

An On/Off dial and ECO mode button sit on top of the unit. It works with Hilti’s IC-RC Bluetooth receiver and IC-RM remote control, letting users start the extractor from a distance. The automatic “bump-cleaning” feature prevents filter clogging, which helps maintain OSHA compliance.

Customizable kits are available, and the tool comes with a 20-year warranty. Fleet managers can opt for a subscription plan at $19.25 per month, which covers repairs, one-day service, and theft protection.

The VC 4LX-22 serves a particular role in Hilti’s product range. Its size and performance make it ideal for overhead drilling, working at heights, or any task requiring portable dust control. It manages light to medium debris well and supports concrete applications with grinders up to 5 inches. However, larger angle grinders or high-volume dust scenarios call for Hilti’s bigger vacuums instead.
