(Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and The Bookish!)
Sorry for skipping Top Ten Tuesday for a couple of weeks. Getting into the swing of things at university has been harder than I’d thought it would be. I couldn’t resist joining in this week, though. You know how much I love beautiful book covers and getting the chance to show off my favourites.
These ten covers either remind me of autumn, or their beautiful colours make me think they must be fall covers. Spoiler alert: I’ve hardly read any of the books, but they’re all solidly on my TBR.
(If you’re interested in reading more about these books, click on their covers to view them on Goodreads. However, if you’d like to purchase one of them, please consider using my Amazon Affiliate link, located in the book title).
10) ‘And the Trees Crept in‘ by Dawn Kurtagich
One of my favourite parts of fall is Halloween. Sadly, there aren’t many beautiful YA horror covers, but this one is rather striking.
9) ‘The Distance Between Us‘ by Kasie West
This cover could either embody the end of summer or the beginning of autumn, so I decided to feature it anyway. Her dress is a bit short for autumn, though: I hope it’s summer for her sake, so she doesn’t get cold!
8) ‘The Brilliant Light of Amber Sunrise‘ by Matthew Crow
I hadn’t actually heard of this book until I started researching this topic, but then I realised that’s because it has two different names. This is also known as ‘In Bloom’, and it tells the story of a boy who’s first memory is Kurt Cobain’s death. As a huge fan of Nirvana, this is right up my alley.
7) ‘Gem & Dixie‘ by Sara Zarr
I’m not sure if it’s the plaid, the orange font or the filter, but something about this makes it impossible to believe it’s any time other than fall.
6) ‘The Becoming of Noah Shaw‘ by Michelle Hodkin
The little red lights flying across the front of the cover are definitely embers. What do embers signify? A fire, which is why I can’t imagine this scene taking place anywhere other than in front of a bonfire. Maybe they’re celebrating Bonfire Night?
5) ‘Wild Beauty‘ by Anna-Marie McLemore
If the background was brighter, this book would make me think of spring. But the gold font on the dark background makes me think it’s definitely a book that deserves to be read later in the year. Plus, it only just published, so someone must agree with me!
4) ‘The Walls Around Us‘ by Nova Ren Suma
This book is spooky, so it’s the perfect Halloween read, but that cover makes it impossible to think of anything but fall. What’s more autumnal than leaves in burning colours?
3) ‘Spellbook of the Lost and Found‘ by Moira Fowley-Doyle
Another book with fire on it (and a firey redhead, too!). Is it just me that associates fall with fire, or is this a normal thing?!
2) ‘Compulsion‘ by Martina Boone
I couldn’t resist featuring this cover. It’s hard to imagine a more stereotypically autumnal scene.
1) ‘Iron Gold‘ by Pierce Brown
It might be because I only got a copy of ‘Iron Gold’ today, but something about this screams “fall”. Maybe it’s my brain connecting it with the end of the Red Rising trilogy, or maybe it’s something to do with that fire… Either way, I’m looking forward to curling up and reading this before its January publication date.
That’s it for this Top Ten Tuesday! Share your favourite of these fall covers in the comments below.
